To enter (or leave) Canada from North America or Europe, a valid passport is the best identification. Check to make sure that you do not need a visa from your passport country. Lise Winer can provide official letters of invitation if needed. Please contact Lise at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
Also, it is better to travel without a whole pile of handouts. If you need handouts for DSNA 2011, please make them once you arrive or mail handouts to yourself care of the hotel, allowing sufficient time for delivery.
The following information has come from the ACLS discussion list and is worth noting for students who are attending DSNA 2011:
"We have been warned to fully expect that if foreign students leave the US to go to Canada, they are very likely to be refused entry to the US. We’ve not faced this situation in the past, and this is our first meeting outside the US in a long time, but are advising foreign students that they should be aware of this risk. "
We recommend that students call US Immigration before they leave the US to ensure they have the right information. Students should be careful to get the name of the person with whom they speak. For more information, please contact Lise Winer at email@example.com.
